We Are Engaged!
03/08/2022
My Darling, my Love, my Life. on Wednesday the 3rd of August you said yes. I was quiet confident you would but nevertheless, you said it! Thank you for all that you are.

The weather that day started off looking alright. The sunshine held out for our round of golf, which might I say was quiet a pleasant experience. there were only a few dribs and drabs of rain here and there. Never truly soaking us.

As we made our way to lunch at The Shelter in Busselton my hopes for the weather began to worsen. The rain was cold and stinging as we tried to make our way to the restaurant. At least inside was warm with fantastic food, drink and of course, your company.

Upon leaving The Shelter my hopes of a romantic proposal, something similar to the notebook, not so cold and hellishly windy, were worsening. We made our way to Sugar loaf rock which turned out to be the furtherest thing in my imagination for a romantic proposal. Although, the scenery was amazing and the waves crashing was a site to see.

As we navigated our way further to the tip of Cape Naturalist I was trying to come up with any and all solutions. Do I propose in the car? Should I just jump out when the sun appears? Do I wait for another day? I wasn't happy with any of these and needed to wait for the right time.

We got out of the car and went for a walk along that trail, you know.. the one with a tonne of Bends. I will never forget running with you, holding your hand unable to look up for the cold sleeting rain hitting my face. I remember thinking that although I may not have found the right spot yet, or the right time. I had definitely found the right one for me!

In my last hope for the day I decided to take us to Meelup beach, this is normally secluded from most of the harsh winds and would hopefully provide the spot I needed. We pulled up, I hurried out of the car ushering you to do the same as the rain seemed to be taking a break for a change on this day. We made our way to the beach where I requested you take your shoes off. Thank you for listening.

As we stepped on to the beach I knew I wanted to make this moment work somehow.
We gripped hands tightly as we walked together, side by side along the beach.
We came towards the flow of water running into the Ocean.
We stopped and I moved opposite of you.

In this moment, The clouds parted over us and a beam of sunshine shone down, as if just for us. There was a rainbow behind me that you mentioned, the Ocean was shining.

This was it.

In that moment, I cant remember what I said exactly. I remember telling you how much I love you.
What I do remember is the overwhelming feeling of love, adoration and respect that I have for you.

So I knelt down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and said the most important words I will ever say.

"Will you marry me"?

You took a moment, not breaking contact with my eyes for one moment and then said,

"Yes".

The rest of the day was fantastic, we walked up and down that beach I don't know how many times just smiling and looking at each other. Talking as we always do.

The drive home was wonderful, although I think my driving ability was slightly compromised by my happiness as I am sure you remember.

That night we dined at our first restaurant we ever sat down at together, drank "our" drink and had a splendid time. Your ability to make me smile just by looking at me is something truly amazing and I am so grateful to have you in my life!

Now...

Time to prepare for a wedding my love.
